Stevie Haile aka Blogheiress aka Teen Girl from Blog Talk Radio

Teen Girls Radio

Teen Girls Radio

Stevie and a few of her teenage friends have been planning a Blog Talk Radio show for many months. Stevie and I have a show called Blogs and Social Networks but she and her friends wanted to do another Blog Talk Radio Show on all topics concerning Teen issues today. It is quite the hit, this show and they came up with a topic for a specific show on the Presidential Election 2008 for the United States.

With so much controversy surrounding the United States Elections, so much media opinion, celebrity endorsement, commercials informing viewers about other commercial lies, story contradictions, and misuse of authority that adults have a difficult time sorting through the rubbish to find the facts. Even then, the facts generally are just words in the end. Sometimes empty promises, sometimes intentions that later never come to fruition.

Choosing your candidate for President of the United States or your governing officials in general is an important, challenging, and research intensive job in the end. There are some adults that don’t take their votes seriously at all, some that use anger in their influence to get others to see their points, others are quite intense in their decisions, some vote like their friends or parents do, while some do not vote at all. How are the new voters of the United States then going to decipher how to vote themselves.

Yes, most high schools teach the subject of Civics and American History, but then are we leaving the “swayed opinion” of the particular teachers of these subjects to influence the youth of today? If not these opinions, then are the new eighteen year old voters going to sift through the informative commercials for the truth? Or, will they not vote at all out of frustration or just vote like their parents and friends?

Parents speaking to their children about voting as early as they would about sex, drugs, finance and of other life importances is one answer to this. Teaching children to think for themselves, to figure out who to listen to and believe, and that indeed people are sometimes truth tellers and other times speak words only to influence others, true or not, will be more beneficial for a life time than any other teachings you could impart on your children.

Speak to your youth before they turn 18, don’t wait until they come of age to vote. In order to make an informed decision, all voters need first to decide which issues are important to them before deciding which candidate should acquire their vote.

The hesitation and delay on this show for Teen Girls Radio has been a mix of all of this put together and more. Teen Girls Radio has postponed the show on the Presidential Election 2008 for a few weeks now. Their initial thoughts on the show was that they were steadfast in their decisions on who they each wanted to be new President of the United States. They realized early in the research procedure that this was not going to be as easy a show as they had originally believed. Few 18 year olds are confident in the area of politics and political discussion and were stepping a bit out of their realm. This is a brilliant example of learning as you go, incredible life lessons, taking on any task with youthful enthusiasm and youthful spirit that being 18 embodies in the World.  Autumn was sure she did not even wish to vote at first but after doing some research decided that her vote does count and has not definitively chosen a candidiate. Megan and Stevie are still set in their original choice of John McCain.

Being a young adult, the World opening up even further to you with new decisions and choices, new responsibilities, realizations and expectations, and the excitements and disappointments in life all coming at you at top speed can be overwhelming. Embrace the changes and live in the moments of brilliance learning along the way. Don’t ever lose yourself in the mix and create your environments of happiness and well being.

Blogs and Social Networks photo sites like Yahoos Flickr and PiccyFix are quite useful. PiccyFix for adjusting your photos and Flickr for posting them and keeping your photos keyword rich.

Flickr

Flickr

Flickr.com is Yahoos online photo site, there used to be a Yahoo Photo but Flickr has foot the bill and replaced it. Share your photos, Watch the World with Flickr.

To upgrade at Flickr is an annual fee of only $24.95 with unlimited uploads and storage, unlimited sets and collections, stats on your account, video uploads, and ad free browsing. If these are the services you are looking for, Flickr seems to have the answer :)

Even if you choose not to upgrade Flickr is a free to use site that lets you have up to three sets of photos. My favorite feature at Flickr is the blogging. Post straight to your blog from Flickr if you are short on time.

Photobucket is also a great photo sharing and holding site and is connected to Meez, an avatar creation site with games and fun. We will cover Photobucket in depth in an up and coming post soon.

PiccyFix

PiccyFix

PiccyFix is where I go to resize my photos and to change them from GIF, JPEG, PNG, or bmp. Crop, filter, flip, colorize, tweek, border, rotate, resize, or change the format of photos at PiccyFix.com. Add the pic to the line up in the PiccyFix Gallery or host your photo at PiccyFix for free with the addition of keywords as a title or description.

{October 9, 2008}   Mixx Digg and Technorati
Mixx Wavecritter

Mixx Wavecritter

With so many choices out there for Bookmarking type social network sites, I thought we could cover some differences between Mixx, Digg, and Technorati. Each offers a draw or feature of difference and the slight and sometimes subtle variants may help in your decision making. Keeping close tabs and working multiple blogs, social networks, and bookmarking sites is a time consuming venture and is not functional to juggle many. It is best to focus on the ones that will best suit the outcome you are seeking.

Discover exactly how much time you are willing to commit, how much time and energy for this endeavor you can obligate, and most especially what you want to accomplish. What outcome are looking to gain?

Digg Wavecritter

Digg Wavecritter

This is really the most important thing, to know what you are setting out to do. Of course, you can choose to set up free accounts at all of the bookmarking sites and check each one out for a few minutes to see for yourself which are going to best for you. Having a base idea ahead of time will save you some time.

Mixx and Digg are similar in use and navigation but Digg has a lot more presently to offer. Submitting links with a short description of your site at Mixx, giving others the opportunity to vote for or against your submitted site creates user charged ratings. News, health, sports, Tech Science, interests, fun, business, and local categories.

Digg is popular because o its ease of use and navigation as well. Digg allows its users to set their home pages to the topic they choose. Gaming, Science, World, business, lifestyle, sports, technology, entertainment, and offbeat topics are choices for your home page.

From the “upcoming” tab at Digg (in Beta), kickstart the recommendation engine and discover more content with suggestions based on your “Digging” activity. The engine then identifies other “Diggers” like you and presents stuff you might like. Just keep “Digging” to get better recommendations.

The thing I personally find brilliant with Digg, is its feature to blog right from the site with a couple of clicks. This is an easy way to get some great releveant content on your blog. This is one of the bigger draws to Digg, along with being one of my personal favorite features.

Making friends at Digg is also a major draw. With Mixx, you get to gain followers and make friends both. Followers are members who enjoy your content and wish to keep tabs on what you find along the way. The listing tab at Digg of your friends activity keeps you in the know about what content your friends like and locate. Diggs kudos system is as easy as Mixx with a “digg” being equal to a vote up at Mixx. The biggest difference here is that you just “undigg” instead of vote down to take away your positive vote.

What can you vote up, down, or digg? Any article, website story, videos, radio shows, photos, and more. Fun, friends, and bookmarking at Mixx and Digg. Diggs other functions include shouts to your friends, the blogging feature is awesome, you have a history area and comments. At Mixx, they offer a kitchen of sorts with mixing tools that include a toolbar button, a blender application program interface, an engine room, and cooks corner.

Technorati Wavecritter

Technorati Wavecritter

Technorati is really a social network bookmarking site with a whole lot more included in the package. List your blog sites at Technorati and get your authority rating. The biggest draw that I see with Technorati is really the tab in the upper right hand corner called “Blogger Central”. Find out what’s percolating in blogs today, the top tags or keywords, the rising links of the day, top blogs, and top favorited blogs by members at Technorati. From Blogger central you can access the Technorati tools, plug ins, widgets, and applications. The top most one hundred blogs run from an authority given by Technorati of 27,000 to 2,500, this is an attainable goal when focused. The widgets at Technorati to place on your blog or site are a top searches widget, top tags widget, and link count widget, which displays the number of links to your site, in real time, updated live for all your site visitors. With the Technorati widgets chart, enter any term to see how many blogs have used that term in the past week to the past year.

These social bookmarking sites listed are only three of many, but a few of the user friendlys available. Using a bookmarking site will help gain you extra exposure to your site and with the competition out there, you may well need it.

Google services are the very coolest available online today and you can get an idea of which one you would like to use all in one nifty page at Squidoo Lens Google services.

Google Me, What Does It Mean?

Understanding the power of the Google search engines and letting them go to work for you, can and will help you understand the keyword placements and usage. Using tools in connection with each other, will enhance each individual tool.

Competing in the Internet market and not having a grasp on the coined phrase of “Google Me”, will hinder your Internet marketing career. The search engines are the highway for other people to locate you. Step back and consider the thoughts people would have and the questions and words they would type into an engine text bar, to get to your website, blog, or online profile.

Does the title of your site reflect the added content? What does your blog comment and inform about? What drew your attention to your own individual business? These are the questions to consider when thinking on what Google Me means. It has a personal twist for everyone and not all people will search the same phrases.” READ MORE

Once you get your personal layout profiles to your liking, why would you then wish to change it? When changing a profile layout, sometimes you feel at a loss because you have worked so hard to get your profiles at many Blogs and Social Networks “Just Right”. No need to worry about this at all if you have a notepad or other saver system in your my documents, just copy and paste straight from your “about me” section of your social network directly to a save section in your documents, notepad, word, or other program. Then after the special event, holiday, or new creation for your layout, background, or profile, you can always copy and paste it right back into your “about me” or other section of your profile layout area.

This is how I placed the Green Ghosty with the hat!

I added the background code as a post to this blog site, not on the sidebar but as an actual post and it took as a replacement for the original background image to my original blog layout. I did not adjust the layout code at all either so all I will need to do to change it back to the original graphic image is delete the post :) Fun to tweak and change blogs and social networks in new and unique ways :)

As you build your new layout by adding your choice contact table, cursor, falling objects, graphics, sounds, and more, label the order of each as you go or always choose the same order. Place enter spaces between each item and you will know which is which by counting down the order, if your cursor is always third and your background is always last, you will know which to change if you aren’t happy with the final outcome and overall look of your layout.

Using CSS profile backgrounds and layouts with sites like Friendster and Ning is very different in the “tweaking” of the premade layouts than the regular HTML codes used at sites like MySpace and Blogspot. The sheer number of premade layouts available not only makes this layout process easier by copying and pasting the entire code, you also get a first hand look at the coding. Later on, when you start thinking about learning a bit more to adjust these codes, having viewed them already, will help in your understanding greatly when you go to “tweak” them.

Halloween Ning layouts and Friendster layouts are CSS codes which many profile, background, and layout sites have already set up with premade designs and the wealth of premade layouts for HTML coding profile Blogs and Social Networks will actually make the choosing a difficult process.

Along with the numerous graphics, generators, countdown tables, contact boxes, animations, comments, and more, many sites host the coolest of backgrounds and layout designs for Halloween and other holidays.

Some of the sites I found that sport some great selections of Halloween Layouts for your Social Network profiles include: Wish A Friend with twenty-four pages of choice Halloween design layouts including a variety from very mild, children quality designs to scary graveyards to some gore; Halloween Joys has a site that offers some fairly decent, creepy animated GIFs along with some easy to post Halloween Flash Games and an interesting History and Traditions of Halloween section; Graphics Arcade is a site mostly for a good selection of Halloween Graphics. Their Halloween Layouts are a bit limited in number but they may just have the one you were looking for; Cool Holiday Graphics and Holiday Joys are yet a few more with some interesting Halloween Graphics, Layouts, and Backgrounds.

Firebug for the Firefox browser has an addon to edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and Javascript live on any webpage. This may be an answer for you to successfully “tweak” your codings.

Enjoying the Holidays with an attractive, time sensitive, stirring profile layout is just another exciting part of sharing Blogs and Social Networks with the Internet World.
